Why are Filipinas, who are mostly Catholic, attracted to men who are of other Christian denominations?
The reason why I asked this question is because I signed up for a membership to a personals site. Then I got several resopnses from Filipinas, most of whom are Catholic. I’m a Baptist, by the way. I’m not sure if this kind of relationship would work out.
Now let’s get to the heart of my question: when they get married, does the woman have to change into her husband’s other Christian denomination. Does the man have to be a Catholic like his wife? Will there be compatiblilty issues arising from this type of relationship? Can the marriage co-exist with them having two different Christian religions?
Any answers are appreciated. I really need clarification on this topic. Hmmm….interesting insight. It seems that my concerns have been answered and are well-addressed.
None of you ought to change religion. For the RCC, marriage between a Catholic and Non-Catholic Christian is a sacrament too, equal with marriage of Catholic couples.
About your relationship, I suggest you discuss this matter with the girl privately. As long as both of you are Christians, there won’t be any major problems. My friend, a Calvinist, married a Catholic girl. They have a joint holy matrimony in a Catholic church. I call their matrimony ‘joint’ simply because it was led by a priest and a minister They keep their respective faiths, but agree that their future kids would be raised in the father’s faith. It would be important for the child, though, to affirm a clear sense of religious identity. If the child is to be Baptist, allow him or her to be that religion alone. Children crave a sense of an identity and it is a mistake not to give them one.
